Getting my first car

Its must one of those times when I suddenly wanna write something on my own blog. Been very busy at work and not much time to go online.

I guess most guys are into cars. Right? Hahaha! Well, I am, or least I hope I get my wheels soon and say “bye bye” to public transport. Perhaps its liken to committing a crime in Singapore, one gonna pay a heavy price for owning a car. I remembered my friend once told me,”If you cannot buy a fast car, get a cute car”.

That’s precisely what I have in mind now. Buying a cute car such as a Kia Picanto. Getting from point A to B at my pace, my way. Way better than traveling on our “world class” transport system.

I like fast cars. No, I love fast cars! The racer boy in me love cars like Skyline, Evolution. There are many new GTRs racing down the road near my worksite. Audi R8, WRXs (which I don’t like). Having sat in an Evol 10 once, twice. The ADRENALINE rush through the blood is damn thrilling! (& I was just the passenger, not the driver). Missed that experience so much! My choice would probably be an Audi A3 hatchback.

Not too “beng” nor too “uncle”… Okay, back to my dreamland…

Lazy Saturday

Not really lazy.. just bored.. I had to go to work today. We will be having another road diversion next week or on the 28th. I got Magicseal to install a insect screen inmy living room and master bedroom. Finally, we can keep our windows open. Not for to keep insects out, but the cats in. haha! Anyway i will post some photos when my camera is back from Hong Kong.

What to eat for dinner? I forgot how to get to the porridge shop near Simon Road.

The Colt Version-R features a DOHC MIVEC with variable valve timing mechanism. A 16 valve intercooler turbo turbo adds to the class topping levels of performance for 154bhp of power. Brakes are 15 inch discs for the front, and 14 inch discs for the rear. ABS, EBD and dual front airbags are standard safety features. In addition, the manual transmission model offers Active Safety Control (ASC) which works by electronically controlling the brake and engine output of 4 wheels, preventing unstable behavior of the vehicle in extreme conditions.

Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy (Quoted from some forgotten sources... )

Our new place finally...

Its has been months since my wife and I settled down at my new place. Pretty cool as it take only 12mins by NEL to reach my workplace. Anyway, I like the serenity of the our neighbour. Our nearest shoping mall is 10 mins walks away. There is a new swimming pool and sports complex about 5mins walk away.

One 7-11 downstairs. The only thing that irks me is those night racers that would without fail... speed past my block almost everynight. I swear I will snipe them off if only in Sillypore there are no gun control laws. Or they would get off their cars and talk so damn loud in the middle of the night. Yes, I will SNIPE their bloody heads off...

Oh yes, I just went to Singlasik to zap my left eye... eye is so dry now.. I will be on leave for the whole week now. Where is my eye drops now??

Photos taken from my living room...

Mystery of the half cheese in fillet O fish

I went to Lucky chinatown yesterday and order a fillet O fish meal. I was surprised to see that there is only half of the cheese in the burger. Thinking it must be mistake by the kitchen, i brought the burger to show the store manager. To my horror, she said "all along", the cheese in fillet O fish is half, not whole cheese. Not giving up, I asked her since when is the "all along" she s talking about. Her reply was "3 & half years ago when she joined Mac..." Folks, really meh?? half cheese in fillet O fish all along?

SPR finally! 07 May 2008

My Karen finally got her SPR! To her, its not big deal. But to us, it means we can buy a HDB flat, plus she pay lesser taxes, enjoy some benefits as a half sillyporean.

Today is also her Lasik day. Now i am about to finish my shift from 9pm to 6am nightly till end May... By the time she wakes up in a few hours time, she should be seeing things perfectly clear without contact lens anymore.

30 more minutes to countdown to 6am... haiz it will be another 1.5 hours before i reach home to Jurong East. Speaking of which, we bought our new resale flat at Anchorvale. Taking a NEL to and fro home & my new worksite is merely 12mins, excluding waiting time. We should be moving in early Sept... looking forward to moving to new place really... :)

DO NOT VISIT the Brand New Kallang Leisure Park Shopping mall

Was there in the noon. From the outside of the building there was pretty extensive upgrading. I almost forgotten how the old building looked like. You can still smell the fresh cement and paint(which i hate) while you are walking in there. This photo was taken from KFC. Well, our very old national stadium, due to be demolished anytime soon... Probably one of the last photos you will see of the structure...

To my surprise there is a multi-screen theater, good place to catch a movie bec i think not many people will flood this place yet. Why i say "don't go to this shopping mall??" Simply most of the retail shops are not opened for business yet. Shops that r opened are Watsons, Koufu food court, KFC, Subway(my lunch spot), bowling alley, bowling accessories, skating accessories, skating ring, Poh Kim VCD, Cold Storage. Would you travel all the way just to patronise these shops? I rather go to Bugis!

Woah, i saw the new Stadium MRT station. I think its pretty impressive in term of its size. Probably at night, when they light it up, it will look even better. No picture of the MRT station, was raining when I was walking there...

Loy Kee chicken rice for lunch!

We had Loy Kee chicken rice along Balestier Road for lunch today... No one took any photos bec all of us were hungry and the food was gone in no time! hahahaha! Se Lay, Kwang Liak, Eric, Jason and myself. Great lunch, I like the beef stew there! Surprised that it actually taste pretty ok.

Just the night before, Karen and myself had dinner at Soup-spoon. This place is fast becoming my regular get a quick dinner spot. I love to drink soups and dip bread in them, so this is a perfect place for me!

Oh NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

HDB just announced on their website that HDB's latest Balloting Exercise has been opened for applications!
BUT Karen hasnt got her PR status approved yet and we CANNOT apply for them! These are all the areas I have been waiting for. Karen's criteria are close to MRT and supermarket. All the flats offered fulfil her 2 criterias!
Since we wouldn't be able to afford to buy a car and rely heavily on our world class transport system, getting a flat near to a MRT is the most viable option. Plus some of the left-over flats in Bedok are going for around 300k or less. And they will be completed by Apr 2009. Meaning, I can save a hell LOT on rental.

For now, "lan lan lor", heaven and earthly timing dont meet. Gotta wait for her PR to get approval(or not) in April. And we apply for the "start to build from foundation" flats, expected date for completion is between 3-4 years. That's easily 30-40k in rental. Dont even talk abt buying resale flats, how to afford the riduculous cash above valuation sellers are asking for these days?

In this Balloting Exercise, a range of Studio Apartments, 3-room, 4-room & 5-room flats in Bedok, Queenstown, Clementi and Jurong West are now open for application.

Apply today.

Sample units for viewing.
Open daily till 6 Feb 08, 10am to 6pm.

Blk 461, Clementi Avenue 3, #04-608 (4-Room)
Blk 49, Strathmore Avenue, #06-209 (5-Room)
Blk 49, Strathmore Avenue, #06-213 (4-Room)
Blk 89, Tanglin Halt Road, #36-348 (4-Room)
Blk 89, Tanglin Halt Road, #36-350 (5-Room)

To view the contract models, visit our Exhibition at Habitat Forum*, BizFour 3rd storey, HDB Hub today! Exhibition and applications now open till 6 Feb 2008.

Visit our Exhibition at Habitat Forum, BizFour 3rd Storey, HDB Hub, Toa Payoh to see some contract models or view our sample units on site.

Check out details and APPLY ONLINE at https://www.hdb.gov.sg/esales Applications close 6 February 2008.
Participate in HDB's latest Balloting Exercise where a variety of 3-room, 4-room and 5-room flats are offered in the established towns of Bedok and Queenstown. Also available are 4-room flats in Clementi.

Looking forward to go KL this weekend!

Woooaaaaah... i am looking forward to go to KL this weekend with my wife and friends. Come to think of it, other than the KL Petronas towers, what else can KL offers? I dont like shopping. Well, the food? Perhaps we can go food hunting for local delights! Yes!!!
This short weekend trip is more like a mini get-away to break the monotonous nature of life. I was telling Karen that I really wish that we have got the money to fly to HK for a week. We will eat,(she will)shop all day and night! We can go to Shatin for seafood! I miss the food there!
Anwae, we have to save up every penny we have, after paying off whatever debts or loans we have. She need to work till at least June 08 to have her 1 week leave or so... I am prayng that she will get her PR status by March 08 then we can quickly apply for a new HDB flat. Damn, everything is getting more expensive here in S'pore! I really wonder how much the price of the 4room flat is going to be inflated to by then? Really thankful to Janet for the rental flat else we wouldnt know where to find accomodation in this mad city with ridiculously priced rentals. Why do Singapore always have to compete to be the BEST, the TOP? Someone wrote in the papers that one day our taxi fares will be like Japan. Though i know its going to come true but alas... hope our "world class public transport" will get us through...

A quick search on google on the word "Akatsuki" reveals...

Akatsuki ( 暁 , Akatsuki ? meaning "Dawn" or "Daybreak") is a fictional organization of criminal ninja in the anime and manga series Naruto created by Masashi Kishimoto.
Akatsuki (暁) means "dawn" or "daybreak" in Japanese. Akatsuki may refer to: Akatsuki class destroyer , a class of four destroyers built in 1932 that saw action in World War II. Interesting choice of word for the company name indeed!

Dodgy looking shop in my neighbourhood

There is this dodgy looking looking shop that was set up about a month ago in my neighbour. Initially I thought they will be selling household items but turns out otherwise. The shop only opens for certain timeslots and more often than not, scores of elderly folks will enter for their sessions. The sessions usually last for a hour with loud music and clapping etc. Funny thing is that they dont seem to be operating a normal business. Anyone seen this shop before?

2 more caught within same week!
